I am not a noted Bible scholar nor am I a famous theologian. I don’t have a degree in divinity or theology. I am, however, a believer that Jesus is lord and through his selfless, sacrificial act on the cross, I have been granted full access to God, the creator of the universe.
God loves us and has made provision, through Jesus, to restore us, so that we can have a personal relationship with Him. He cares about the day to day activities in our lives and wants us to be the best that we were created to be.
I began this blog as a process of accountability; a way to encourage commitment to study the Bible and heighten my sensitivity to the promptings of God’s Spirit. I strive to live a victorious life and rest in His grace. “I strive to… rest…,” that sounds like an oxymoron to me, but I digress.
As I travel on this journey of self-growth, I am hoping to inspire others to work on their relationship with God. I’m hoping to encourage introspective thought and nurture personal growth.
Each of us, at birth, began a journey called life. Along the way we discovered resources and tools and learned to use them. When we were babies, crying was our greatest tool. We cried when we were hungry. We cried when we were tired. We cried when our diapers needed changing. As we matured, we discovered additional resources, skills and tools such as crawling, walking, running, biking, driving, etc. Crying and crawling are skills that we still possess, but if we use them as our primary tools of survival, we would be considered developmentally delayed.
The same is true in our Christian life. There is an expectation of growth and development. We must progress from the milk of the gospel to the meat of the gospel. (Hebrews 5:12-14) We must become skillful and use the tools God has placed at our feet.
As I discover these tools, these keys to living every day in the presence of God, I hope to become skillful in His word and learn to apply biblical truth and principles to my daily life. I plan to use the resources God has provided to live a victorious life and rest in His grace.
My journey may not be straight, and the path may be bumpy at times, I may even stumble along the way, but it will be honest and true. This is my journey with all the detours, missed signposts and turnarounds.
Travel this road with me. Let’s discover together, the treasure He has placed here for our use and development. Let’s see what lies ahead.
